Teen Critically Injured in Apple Valley Park Shooting After Late-Night Altercation
Police Seek Public’s Help as Investigation Into Gunfire Incident Remains Ongoing
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—An 18-year-old male is in critical condition after a violent altercation at an Apple Valley park escalated into gunfire early Saturday morning, May 10, 2025.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:40 a.m. to the 6800 block of Fortino Street following reports of a weapons-related incident at Kelley Park. Witnesses reported a group fight near the park that was followed by multiple gunshots. The individuals involved fled the area in several vehicles before officers arrived.

Three Separate Shooting Sites Found
Officers at the scene located three distinct areas where shell casings were recovered, suggesting multiple shots were fired from different locations near the park. Police have not yet confirmed how many shooters may have been involved.
While the investigation was underway, a separate call came in from dispatch informing officers that a male victim had arrived at the Apple Valley Police Department seeking help.
Victim Sustains Life-Threatening Injury
The 18-year-old had suffered a gunshot wound to the face. Officers immediately rendered emergency aid before the teen was rushed to a nearby hospital. He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Multi-Agency Investigation Underway
The Apple Valley Police Department is working in partnership with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to process the crime scene and collect evidence. No arrests have been made, and police are actively working to identify the individuals involved.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” the department stated Saturday morning. “Community assistance is vital in helping us piece together the events that occurred and in locating those responsible.”
Police Request Public’s Help
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident, including the identities of those involved or the vehicles used to flee the scene, to contact the Apple Valley Police Department at 952-322-2323.
Thursday Night Altercation
This incident comes two days after an altercation was reported at Kelley Park on Thursday night, May 8, 2025, around 10 PM. In that incident, a group of at least 15 teens was reportedly attacking one person on the ground. Three citations were handed out in that incident. We asked the Apple Valley Police if they think the two incidents are related, but they said it is too early to tell.
