Homicide Victim Identified in Burnsville Apartment Shooting

LATEST UPDATE: The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the victim in the Chancellor Manor apartment complex shooting as 22-year-old Abdinaasir Noor Ahmed. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Ahmed, a Burnsville resident, died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The manner of death has been ruled a homicide. The shooting took place at unit 103 in the Chancellor Manor apartment complex shortly after midnight on May 11, 2025. Ahmed was transported to Hennepin Healthcare’s emergency room in Minneapolis, where he was pronounced dead.
ORIGINAL STORY - BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA: Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the Chancellor Manor apartment complex in Burnsville.
According to Burnsville Police, officers were dispatched to the complex off Irving Avenue South at approximately 12:14 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, he later died at the hospital.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist Burnsville Police, including officers from the Savage, Eagan, Bloomington, Apple Valley, and West St. Paul Police Departments and the Minnesota State Patrol.
According to Burnsille officials, a suspect has not been arrested, but additional updates are expected later today. The investigation and the scene are still considered active. Additionally, since several Burnsville officers are at the National Police Memorial Event in Washington, D.C., to honor Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, the investigation and call coverage in the city are being done with help from mutual aid by neighboring police agencies.
