A Crash Involving Two Semis Temporarily Closes Northbound I-35 in Lakeville

Updated: 11:20 AM on January 3, 2025.

LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA – A two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 35 at 210th Street West caused significant disruptions for morning commuters on Friday, January 3, 2025. The crash, which occurred just before the 210th Street West bridge around 6:35 AM, blocked both northbound lanes, prompting officials to close the roadway temporarily. Traffic was routed off the highway at the 210th Street West exit and allowed to return past the bridge.

Initial projections indicated that the road closure would last until approximately 11:00 AM. However, thanks to the swift efforts of emergency responders and cleanup crews, the lanes were cleared, and traffic resumed around 9:00 AM, minimizing delays.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, the Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed that the car hauler was reportedly on the shoulder of northbound I-35 when the car hauler was struck from behind by a box truck. Minnesota State Patrol confirmed it was just the two trucks involved, and no injuries were reported due to the crash. The Minnesota State Patrol is leading the investigation; further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
