UPDATE - June 14, 2025: New details provided to us from witnesses at the scene of this incident have shed some additional light on the initial encounter. A summer camp group, which included several children, was on a field trip to the beach. The man was reportedly “wandering” and “staring” at them in a way that was unnerving to the group. It was reported that the staff did not contact the police directly, as the man hadn’t done anything to threaten the group directly. It is believed that a passerby may have reported the man’s behavior out of concern for the children’s safety. Shortly after, several police officers showed up on the scene.
The presence of numerous police vehicles prompted the camp to leave early out of an abundance of safety for the kids.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the man's identity or the nature of the felony warrants. Additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
