APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA – Emergency responders were dispatched late Thursday morning, June 12, 2025, to the scene of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Apple Valley.
The incident occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Germane Avenue, just south of 127th Street West. Apple Valley Fire, Burnsville Fire, Apple Valley Police, and Allina Health all responded to the scene. The pedestrian who was struck was conscious and alert when first responders arrived. Witnesses at the scene indicated the pedestrian’s head may have struck the vehicle’s windshield on impact.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and was reportedly assisting the injured pedestrian until emergency crews arrived.
According to the crash report from the Apple Valley Police Department, a 56-year-old male was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla and was turning left/exiting the Hidden Ponds Apartments (128th Street West) to go northbound on Germane Avenue toward 127th Street West. While doing so, he struck a 46-year-old pedestrian walking southbound on Germane Avenue on what police are calling the correct side of the road. The police report states that the pedestrian struck the windshield, rolled off the vehicle, and fell on the ground. The windshield reportedly received moderate damage, with the pedestrian reportedly having a head injury with lacerations. The injuries were reported to be minor, though he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The driver of the vehicle reported to police that they did not see the pedestrian. The police report states that no alcohol or drugs were suspected to have been a cause of the crash. The contributing factor was determined to be failure to yield the right of way, and the driver was verbally warned for failure to drive with due care to prevent an accident with a pedestrian.
