B-52 bomber fuselage en route to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from Arizona

B-52 fuselage from Boneyard Safari as the transit has just entered New Mexico.

A 1961 B-52 fuselage is on its way to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from the Boneyard Safari located in Oro Valley, Arizona. This specific plane was used during the Cold War and is being given a second life through a new $2.8 million Federal Contract Opportunity. The USAF B-52H with tail number 61-0009 is being relocated to the new Boeing Hi-Bay Facility at the Boeing Campus in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In this contract, both the fuselage and the left-wing will be transported to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where they will be used as a testbed for the new modernized B-52 fleet.

The B-52 is being transported by a Kansas-based company Ball & Son House Movers, Worldwide Aircraft Recovery with additional help from various local and regional municipalities along the way.

The B-52 was last spotted in Show Low, AZ which you can see in the embedded post below. It is projected to be in the Oklahoma City area in about 3 weeks, which is around the last week of January or the first week of February pending no delays. We will continue to update this story with the latest timeline, along with having a team covering its arrival in the OKC area when it does occur.
