Structure Fire at Citi Cargo in Eagan, Minnesota

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - Just after 3 PM on Friday, July 21, 2023, several fire crews and the Eagan Police Department were called out to Citi Cargo located on the corner of Blackhawk Road and Highway 13 for a fire in the business. On the initial page, fire personnel from both the Eagan and Burnsville Fire Departments were called to respond.

The first units arrived on the scene about 10 minutes after the initial page and confirmed seeing smoke. Crews on the scene began their investigation into the source. Eagan Police arrived on the scene and closed down Blackhawk Road at Highway 13 and Kennebec Drive as fire crews were laying a line across Blackhawk Road. At around 3:13 PM, the call was upgraded to a second alarm which paged out additional help from Apple Valley, South Metro, and Inver Grove Heights Fire Departments. Crews were able to get the fire out by 3:14 PM but remained on the scene as they looked for an extension of the fire and began to ventilate the building. The fire was confirmed out by 3:20 PM and ventilation was begun on the business. Officers on the scene reported the fire might have been tied to paint or paint equipment within the building. A secondary area of smoke was found coming from a vent on the roof that crews were able to access and quickly extinguish. We will be reaching out to the Eagan Fire Department to see if they might be able to confirm a possible source of the fire.

Fire crews and staff at the business were able to account for everyone who was in the building and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire or smoke. Crews cleared the scene before 5 PM.
