The vehicle was traced to Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, where the suspect, Mensing, and the victim were located. The criminal complaint states that initial reports indicated that Mensing might be armed and had entered the building, prompting a large-scale response from multiple law enforcement agencies, including SWAT, and a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area.

March 7, 2024: Officers were dispatched to a residence in Woodbury after reportedly receiving reports from a third party that the victim, an adult female, had been assaulted by Mensing. It was reported that the victim had sent photographs of her injuries, which were consistent with her account of being choked and beaten. Mensing was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and furnishing liquor to a minor. A Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO) was issued, prohibiting Mensing from contacting the victim, according to the court documents.
May 19, 2024: Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call in Eagan, where the victim was reportedly heard crying and telling Mensing to leave. According to the court records, despite a DANCO being in place, Mensing appeared at the location unexpectedly. The victim expressed fear for her life, and Mensing was arrested for violating the no-contact order.
June 27, 2024: The criminal complaint states that the victim’s mother reported that Mensing was holding the victim against her will in his vehicle. The vehicle was located at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, but no one was in it. Eventually, the victim approached officers and told them Mensing had entered the clubhouse to use the restroom. The victim told officers that she believed there was a possible weapon in the vehicle, but no weapon was found. A shelter-in-place was issued for the area, and the clubhouse was searched since that was his last known location. When officers spoke with the victim, she was frightened and confirmed that Mensing had threatened her and refused to let her leave. Officers would eventually locate and arrest Mensing in a nearby neighborhood. No firearm was ever found on him or in the surrounding area. In a Mirandized statement with law enforcement, the criminal complaint states that Mensing said he went into the country club to use the restroom and fled after he saw others running from the clubhouse. He claimed that earlier in the day, he had gone with the victim to her new boyfriend’s residence to hear their discussion about their relationship status, the criminal complaint states.
