Serious motorcycle crash at 35W and Cliff Rd in Burnsville

UPDATE - 8/22/2022:

The latest update from the Minnesota State Police states that 21-year-old Kyle Petersen had life-threatening injuries from the result of the accident. On August 21, we were contacted by a family member of Mr. Petersen with an additional update. According to the family, Mr. Petersen’s heart had stopped en route to the hospital. Emergency personnel was able to revive him, but after testing at the hospital and being unable to breathe on his own, he was declared deceased on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

The family also reported that seven of his organs were able to be donated, which ended up saving the lives of four recipients.

The family would also like to add that Kyle was a wonderful Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend who always made those around him laugh. He loved to travel, especially to the beach, and enjoyed playing games and sports with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest, characterized by his personal motto; “Downhill in everything in life, but uphill in happiness.”


UPDATE - According to the Minnesota State Police, a single occupant on a motorcycle lost control of their bike and left the roadway on the right side of the road. The rider of the motorcycle was said to be wearing a helmet while riding, but it came off during the crash. The extent of their injuries or their current condition is still unknown.

ORIGINAL STORY: Just after midnight on August 17, 2022, a call came in for a motorcycle crash at 35W and Cliff Rd in Burnsville, Minnesota. Early reports show this was possibly a serious accident, with at least one person being taken away by ambulance to a regional hospital. One other motorcycle was on the scene, who was uninjured. A large police and fire presence at the scene, with the on-ramp to 35W and the right lane closed. The injured party's condition was not immediately known as police were actively investigating the cause of the crash.
