UPDATED: Serious Crash Involving a Motorcycle and SUV Rollover in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Emergency personnel responded to a serious accident around 6:20 PM Saturday evening, May 11, 2024, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and 140th in Apple Valley. The accident involved a motorcycle and a rolled-over SUV. There were major delays in the area as westbound 140th was closed at Cedar Avenue, and southbound Cedar was closed at 140th, and you were only allowed to turn left onto eastbound 140th.

Officials with the Apple Valley Police Department have confirmed the information from several witnesses on what caused the crash. According to law enforcement and witness accounts, a red SUV was traveling westbound on 140th Street when they ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist traveling southbound on Cedar Avenue with a green light.
According to officials with the Apple Valley Police Department, the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Their current condition was not immediately known at this time. Two people were also reportedly entrapped in the SUV after it rolled over. It does not appear they were injured in this crash.
No citations have been issued due to the crash, as local law enforcement says the investigation is ongoing. While the Minnesota State Patrol assisted Apple Valley Police with the accident reconstruction, the investigation into this incident is being done by Apple Valley Police, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
