Two Semis Involved in Crash on I-94 in Otter Tail County; One Driver Hospitalized

OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINNESOTA - A crash involving two semi-trucks disrupted westbound traffic on I-94 Wednesday morning, June 4, 2025, near milepost 47 in Otter Tail County, prompting a significant emergency response and temporarily blocking a local roadway.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. when one of the semi-trucks veered off the highway near the overpass at Otter Tail County Road 10. The crash prompted a response from Otter Tail County deputies, Rothsay Fire and Rescue, Ringdahl Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver of the semi that left the roadway, identified as 53-year-old Eric Scott Watson of Forest Lake, was transported by ambulance to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that Watson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and that alcohol was not a factor.
The other semi involved, a 1996 Freightliner, was driven by 21-year-old Brennen Charles Volkmann of Henning, who was not injured and did not require hospitalization. His passenger, 23-year-old Connor Michael Tierney of Wadena, also escaped without injury. Both were wearing seat belts, and alcohol is not believed to have been involved in their vehicle either.
The westbound lanes of I-94 were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage. Otter Tail County Road 10 was also blocked while cleanup and investigative efforts were underway.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Minnesota State Patrol will provide further updates as new information becomes available.
