Arrest Made in Attempted Sexual Assault Near Rice Lake in Maple Grove

MAPLE GROVE, MINNESOTA - A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted sexual assault of a woman jogging along the Medicine Lake Regional Trail near Rice Lake earlier this year.

The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 a.m. on January 30, 2025, near the trail underpass beneath Interstate 94. According to authorities, the suspect approached the woman from behind and tackled her. The victim fought back and was able to escape before calling 911. The suspect fled the scene and was not immediately located.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives with the Maple Grove Police Department identified 31-year-old Jordan Janusz, a Maple Grove resident, as the suspect. The case was submitted to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, which issued a warrant for Janusz’s arrest. On May 13, 2025, he was formally charged in Hennepin County District Court with the following offenses:

  • Second-degree criminal sexual conduct

  • Third-degree assault

  • Threats of violence with reckless disregard for risk

Janusz was arrested at his home and is currently being held at the Hennepin County Jail.

Maple Grove Police expressed their appreciation for the public’s support throughout the investigation. They also acknowledged the assistance of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Three Rivers Park District Police.

Authorities said no additional information will be released at this time.
