Vehicle Catches Fire in Two-Car Crash at Lexington Ave and Neil Armstrong Blvd
EAGAN, MINNESOTA - A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Neil Armstrong Boulevard/Northwood Parkway on Tuesday afternoon resulted in one person being transported for possible injuries and one of the vehicles catching fire.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, when a Ford Focus traveling northbound on Lexington Avenue attempted to turn left onto Northwood Parkway. According to Eagan officials, witnesses reported that the Focus proceeded on a flashing yellow arrow without yielding to southbound traffic. As a result, a southbound Ford Edge, which had the right-of-way with a green light, struck the Focus during the turn.
Following the impact, the Ford Edge caught fire. Emergency responders, including Eagan Fire, Eagan Police, and M Health paramedics, arrived to assist. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly. Officials said a third vehicle, which was waiting to turn right from Northwood Parkway to go south on Lexington Avenue, also sustained damage.
Authorities confirmed that one person was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of possible injuries. No charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing. Officials urge drivers to exercise caution at intersections, especially when turning left on flashing yellow signals, to prevent similar incidents.
