Four Arrested in Connection with Burnsville High School Shooting Incident; FBI Involved
LATEST UPDATE - June 9, 2025: Two Teens Formally Charged in Burnsville High School Graduation Shooting
BURNSVILLE, MN: Burnsville officials have confirmed and identified the four individuals in connection with the shooting incident that occurred Friday night just west of Burnsville High School, shortly after the school’s graduation ceremony. Additionally, authorities have confirmed that at least one weapon was recovered from the scene.
The following are the individuals who were arrested in connection with this incident, with the list of their preliminary charges according to Dakota County Jail records:
18-year-old Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab
Felony: Dangerous Weapons – Drive-by Shooting Toward a Motor Vehicle or Building
Felony: Dangerous Weapons – Possession on School Property
Gross Misdemeanor: Carrying or Possessing a Pistol Without a Permit in a Public Place
18-year-old Abdulahi Jama Ali
Felony: Dangerous Weapons – Drive-by Shooting Toward a Motor Vehicle or Building
Felony: Dangerous Weapons – Possession on School Property
Gross Misdemeanor: Carrying or Possessing a Pistol Without a Permit in a Public Place
18-year-old Amiir Mawlid Ali
Felony: Machine Guns and Short-Barreled Shotguns – Acts Prohibited (Own/Possess/Operate)
He is currently being held in the Dakota County Jail, under the jurisdiction of the FBI's Minneapolis Office. The federal involvement may relate to the nature of the weapon allegedly recovered, potentially a modified firearm or fully automatic gun, placing it under federal firearms regulations and raising possible violations of federal law. Federal law generally bans citizens from owning machine guns manufactured after May 19, 1986.
Court records from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office indicate that Ali was also allegedly arrested on June 3, 2025, for probable cause weapons charges in Circle Pines, MN. He was released on June 5, 2025, following a 36-hour clearance.

Misdemeanor: Trespassing, Refusal to Depart
The charges stem from a chaotic scene that unfolded around 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2025, when officers responded to reports of gunfire to the west of Burnsville High School following their graduation and quickly apprehended four individuals. No injuries were reported, but the incident triggered a large-scale response from multiple law enforcement agencies.
