Authorities Investigating Attempted Vehicle Theft in Rosemount

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA — A coordinated law enforcement response was launched Monday morning after Rosemount Police received a report of an attempted vehicle theft.

On April 7, 2025, at approximately 9:36 a.m., officers from the Rosemount Police Department responded to a report of “trespassing in progress” at a property located in the 13000 block of Clayton Avenue. The caller reported seeing a gray vehicle in the area, with its occupants allegedly attempting to steal another vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located two suspects. One was detained without incident, while the second fled the scene on foot, prompting a large-scale search effort. Authorities quickly established a perimeter and called in support from several neighboring agencies, including the Minnesota State Air Patrol, Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, Inver Grove Heights, Eagan, Bloomington, and Richfield Police Departments. Assisting units utilized drones, K-9 teams, and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter to search the expansive property thoroughly, but the second suspect was not located.

According to the Rosemount Police Department, charges related to theft, trespassing, and controlled substances are being investigated. The detained individual was released, and the suspect vehicle was seized as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police confirmed there is no current threat to public safety stemming from the incident. However, the case remains active, and no further details have been released at this time. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Rosemount Police Department.
