UPDATED: Two separate crashes on Apple Valley-Lakeville border resulted in injuries and towed vehicles
Update - 10:30 AM August 10th: According to the Apple Valley Police Department two witnesses stated that Unit 1 (white car) went around traffic waiting to left from southbound Cedar Avenue onto eastbound 160th Street from the left turn lane that had a red light. The white car illegally took a left turn onto 160th Street from the through lane on southbound Cedar Avenue which is when Unit 2 (the green car in the diagram below) struck Unit 1 on the passenger side.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, 5 people were involved in the accident and two were transported to the hospital for injuries. Authorities did not know what the injuries were or what the extent of the injuries were at this time.
ORIGINAL STORY
LAKEVILLE - APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Just after 7 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of 160th Street and Cedar Avenue on the Apple Valley and Lakeville, Minnesota border. Multiple calls were coming into Dakota County Dispatch about a two-vehicle crash involving a white car that was t-boned at the intersection.
Since the crash was right on the border of Lakeville and Apple Valley, Minnesota, resources from the Apple Valley Police Department and the Lakeville Police Department were called to the crash scene. Multiple ambulances were also called to the scene from the ALF Ambulance, and the Lakeville Fire Department was also dispatched to the accident scene. The vehicles of the accident came to rest on the far east side of the intersection.
How many people were involved in the crash and the extent of the injuries are unknown now, but there is an unconfirmed report of a young child possibly suffering a broken arm. We have contacted Apple Valley Police Department for more information on the crash, including how many people were involved, the extent of their injuries, and a possible cause of the crash. We will update this story as we have more information. With the larger response to this crash from it being on the border, emergency personnel were able to provide aid to those involved in the accident quickly. They were also able to get the accident quickly cleaned up. The crash was cleared, and crews left the scene around 7:50 PM.
In addition to this injury accident, a second two-vehicle non-injury accident occurred just to the south of this accident. This crash was in the left lane of southbound Cedar Avenue around 162 Street. Both vehicles in this crash were towed from the scene just before 8 PM.
