Is Spring Here to Stay in Minnesota?

Captured by: Markie Kelly

TWIN CITIES, MINNESOTA - After a record-breaking warm day in the Twin Cities, with a high of 55F, beating the previous record set on this day back in 1995 of 46F,  some might be asking, "Is spring here to stay?"

As Prince has said, "Sometimes it snows in April," and anything is still on the table in Minnesota. Looking into the following week, milder temperatures are looking to prevail, with no signs of any good precipitation until after the February 7th timeframe. Around this timeframe in the extended forecast, things start to become interesting regarding a possible change in weather patterns.

A system looks to develop to the west and work towards the Upper Midwest. The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center has Minnesota outlined a 20% slight risk for heavy snow around the Feb 8th-14 time frame. They also have Minnesota outlined in the leaning above category for precipitation around the same time.

The warm weather this winter has tended to bring lots of clouds into the region, but this week, it's looking sunny, so get out the flip-flops and enjoy the warm spring-like winter we are having so far!
