APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA —
Just after 10:30 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024, Apple Valley Fire and Apple Valley Police were dispatched for a general fire alarm at the Palomino East Apartments at 12555 Pennock Avenue in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Additional calls came into Dakota County Dispatch reporting smoke coming from the garage. This additional information quickly upgraded the call to a second-alarm fire.

After a brief investigation, emergency personnel were able to find the source of a possible fire in the trash area. Fire personnel pushed and dumped out one of the trash bins in the parking lot, with smoke visibly coming from the bin. What ignited the possible fire is not known at this time, but we will be reaching out to Apple Valley Police and Fire Department to see if they were able to determine a possible source of the fire. Everyone was reported to have evacuated the building, and no injuries were reported due to this incident.

According to the Apple Valley Fire Chief, Matt Nelson, the fire marshall could not determine the cause of the fire that occurred this morning.
