Fatal crash in South Saint Paul, alcohol suspected
SOUTH SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA - According to a press release from the South Saint Paul Police Department, Monday, June 5, 2023, at 3:20 pm, South Saint Paul Police Officers responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash with multiple injuries being reported near Concord Street South and Chestnut Street. Police say one person was critically injured in the crash and another was killed. Alcohol impairment is believed to play a role in this crash. A 53-year-old female from Menomonie WI was taken into custody on probable cause criminal vehicular operation.
Police say that a preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck was traveling north on Concord Street when it was struck head-on by a southbound traveling minivan that had crossed into the northbound lane. The South Saint Paul Police Department says that an investigation into the fatal crash is being conducted by the South Saint Paul Police, Minnesota State Patrol, and Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office. No further details are available on this crash as the investigation is ongoing.
