Fire Ravages Eagan Townhomes, Leaving 16 Units Uninhabitable

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - Around 2:38 AM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Eagan Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Burnsville Fire Department, was called out to the Forest Ridge Townhomes located at 1284 Ironwood Lane in Eagan, Minnesota, for a reported fire on the deck.

The first fire units arrived around 2:43 AM to confirm a working fire on the third-story deck. The call was upgraded to a second-alarm fire with additional mutual aid from the South Metro Fire Department, Apple Valley Fire Department, and Inver Grove Heights Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the early assumption is that it was started on the deck. Fire officials report no injuries or fatalities due to the fire. Everyone was evacuated from the building, and a metro bus was brought to the scene to allow displaced residents to stay somewhere warm while the Red Cross worked to get accommodations for the displaced. Speaking with personnel at the apartment complex, they estimate that at least 2-3 apartments will likely need a total remodel. They also stated that smoke damage was reported across the entire building, but the worst damage looked to be contained to the uppermost units. Still, 16 units are uninhabitable, according to the City of Eagan.

We have contacted the Eagan Fire Department for more information on the cause of the fire and will update this article when more information is available.
