Assault with Deadly Weapon at Markgrafs Lake: Incident Update

WOODBURY, MINNESOTA - Around 9 AM on Friday, February 2nd, the Woodbury Police Department released an update on an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred around 3:30 PM on Thursday, February 1st.

According to the police, an adult male - whom scanner traffic says was around 70 years old - was walking around the south side of Markgrafs Lake when he was stabbed in the chest by an unknown assailant. The victim was found and transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital. The victim was said to be alert but was unable to provide any additional details to law enforcement on the assailant who attacked him.

Officers with the Woodbury Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol Air Patrol were called in to assist in the search for a possible suspect. Law enforcement also canvased the area for additional evidence and checked surveillance cameras for further information about a possible suspect.

As of this morning, February 2nd, the victim has been unable to provide law enforcement with any additional information on the possible suspect. According to the press release, this remains an open and active investigation for Woodbury Police detectives. Detectives are interested in any additional information or witnesses who might have been in the Markgrafs Lake area between 2:30 and 3:30 PM on February 1st. Police are also aware of a woman reportedly walking a dog, possibly a golden, that might have seen the victim after the incident. They would like to speak with this woman.

Due to the number of unknowns in this case, the Woodbury Police ask residents to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the police right away.
