Fire Rips Through Waukesha Home

WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN - Around 3:01 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the Waukesha Fire Department received a 911 call about a possible house fire in the 100 block of James Street in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The first fire unit arrived on the scene around 3 minutes later and quickly confirmed it was a working house fire with flames showing from the first floor of the home.
A total of eleven fire units responded to this fire, including five ambulances, two ladder trucks, three engines, a battalion, and two fire chiefs. Additionally, three Waukesha squads also responded to the fire. Waukesha Fire crews were able to get the fire under control and searched the building by 3:17 PM. Following the search, it was determined only one person was in the building and they were able to get out of the building safely. No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire.
Fire crews remained on the scene of the fire as they continued to check for hot spots, and performed any additional mop-up as needed. All fire crews were cleared from the scene of the fire by around 5:59 PM.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown and still under investigation.
