Crash in Waukesha: Car Hits Pedestrian

WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN - Around 6:23 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023, 911 received a call about a car versus pedestrian crash at the intersection of West Main Street and North Barstow Street in downtown Waukesha, Wisconsin. The accident occurred during the City of Waukesha's Friday Night Live event, which is held every Friday night from 5-10 PM June through Labor Day. This was the final event for the season.

Details are limited at this time, but what we do know is a silver four-door car hit a gentleman who was walking in the crosswalk. Since a number of emergency personnel were already downtown for the Friday Night Live event, emergency response was quick and emergency responders were on the scene providing aid to the man who was hit in about one minute. The male victim was taken to the hospital by 6:35 PM.

It does appear this was an accident, as many in the community of Waukesha, Wisconsin are still shaken by the events that occurred back on November 21, 2021. On this day, Darrell E. Brooks Jr. drove an SUV through the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people and injuring sixty-two others. Brooks was sentenced on November 16, 2022, to six life sentences without parole. He also got sixty-one counts of reckless endangerment, for a sentence of 762 years of initial confinement and 305 years of extended supervision. He also had six counts of hit and run, where he received 150 years running concurrently with the reckless endangerment sentences.

We have reached out to the Waukesha Police Department for more information on this accident and will provide an update when more information is available.
