FBI Offers $50,000 Reward for Information on Suspect, Vance Luther Boelter, in Shooting of Minnesota Lawmakers
Sunday Evening, June 15, 2025: VANCE LUTHER WAS ARRESTED SUNDAY EVENING IN GREEN ISLE, MN.
MINNESOTA - Federal and state authorities are actively searching for 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter, who has been identified as the suspect in a politically motivated shooting that killed Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and severly injured Sen. John Hoffman and his wife early Saturday morning.
According to the FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office, Boelter allegedly posed as a law enforcement officer before ambushing the victims at their residences in Champlin and Brooklyn Park in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the Brooklyn Park Police Department are leading the investigation, with support from federal agencies.
Authorities describe Boelter as a White male, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 220 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. His date of birth is listed as July 23, 1967.
Law enforcement agencies warn that Boelter should be considered armed and dangerous. The motive behind the attack is under investigation, but Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has referred to it as a “targeted political assassination attempt.”
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Boelter’s arrest and conviction. Officials urge the public to remain vigilant and not to approach him if seen.
