EAGAN, MINNESOTA— Charges have been filed in connection with a shooting that occurred outside a Taco Bell on Town Centre Drive in Eagan on September 29, 2024. According to the Dakota County Attorney's Office, 21-year-old Lindall Nikolas O’Shae Brooks of Minneapolis is accused of firing a gun during a verbal altercation in the restaurant’s parking lot. Court records show that the Dakota County Attorney’s Office issued a search warrant on October 9, 2024, with the warrant being served on November 8, 2024.
Brooks has been charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree with a Dangerous Weapon, a felony carrying a potential sentence of 3-7 years and fines of $4,200 to $14,000.
The criminal complaint reveals that Brooks, an employee of Taco Bell, allegedly initiated a verbal argument with the victim from the drive-up window, yelling at the victim, who had parked in an adjacent parking lot to the restaurant while delivering food as part of a meal delivery service, telling them they could not park. The dispute escalated when the victim, who was armed with a knife, approached the restaurant and briefly yelled into the building. Brooks and another individual reportedly went toward the door to confront the victim. The victim noticed that Brooks had a firearm and then ran back outside the restaurant. As the victim attempted to flee, Brooks allegedly fired at him, causing a superficial gunshot wound.
After being shot, the victim then fled the scene before eventually stopping in the area of the 2000 block of Cliff Road in Eagan, Minnesota. From here, Eagan Police and Eagan Fire responded and confirmed that an adult male sustained a minor injury consistent with the shooting. The victim was treated by medics on the scene for minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
According to the criminal complaint, after the incident, Brooks allegedly fled and later admitted via text messages to his mother that he had shot at the victim.
On October 10th, the court set Brooks’ bail at $100,000 without conditions or $75,000 with conditions. If released on conditional bail, Brooks is prohibited from contacting the victim, possessing firearms, or entering the Taco Bell in Eagan. Prosecutors argued for significant bail, citing concerns for public safety and Brooks' potential risk of flight due to his ties to Texas.
Brooks is scheduled to appear in court today in Hastings, Minnesota at 1 PM and again on January 8, 2025, for his Omnibus hearing.
Prior Criminal Record
Court records show that Brooks has a prior felony conviction. On August 27, 2022, he pleaded guilty to felony receiving stolen property in Burnsville. As a result, he served five days in jail and was placed on three months of probation.
