Shooting in South St. Paul Leaves One Injured, Investigation Ongoing
SOUTH ST PAUL, MINNESOTA—Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place late this morning, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in South St. Paul, Minnesota. According to Brian J. Wicke, Chief of Police for the South St. Paul Police Department, officers responded to the 2200 block of Southview Boulevard around 10 a.m. following multiple reports of gunshots in the area.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Emergency medical assistance was quickly provided by the South Metro Fire Department, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital by MHealth Fairview medics. His current condition has not been released.
Preliminary information from the South St. Paul Police Department suggests that the victim and the suspect were acquainted, indicating that this was not a random act of violence. While the suspect has not been apprehended, police reassured the public that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community based on their initial findings.
The investigation is being led by the South St. Paul Police Department, with support from the West St. Paul Police Department and the Dakota County Drug Task Force/Violent Offender Task Force. Officials stated that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
