Uniting to save the Redwood Pool Community Pool in Apple Valley - latest update
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Back on June 30th, we shared the following story Apple Valley residents unite to save beloved community pool. On July 5th, the SAVE REDWOOD POOL! Apple Valley, MN group turned in their petition to the Apple Valley Parks & Rec Director who will provide a copy of the petition to City Council members to review.
In total, the group secured 1,075 signatures for their petition, with 608 of those being residents of the Apple Valley community and 467 of them being non-residents, which shows this hidden gem of the Apple Valley community draws more than just local community members to the City. They also collected 209 signatures on their children's petition to save the pool.
The next step in the process to save the Redwood Pool comes this Thursday, July 13th at 7 PM during the next City Council meeting. There will be a 10-minute open mic time, where select members from the Save Redwood Pool group will speak to the City Council members in favor of keeping the pool. Members of the group are asking Apple Valley community members and supporters to save the pool to come to the meeting to show their support. Since this is a new item, nothing will be acted on in this meeting, but this will set the stage for the next City Council meeting set for July 27th, when action on this item would likely occur.
If you would like to attend the upcoming City Council meeting, it will be held at City Hall, located at 7100 147th St W, Apple Valley, MN 55124. If you would like to help this cause, you can join the group here: SAVE REDWOOD POOL! Apple Valley, MN
