Domestic assault leads to a brief police chase and several-hour manhunt in Twin Cities suburb
PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA - According to a press release from the Prior Lake Police Department, around 1:15 PM, Officers with the Prior Lake Police Department responded to a domestic assault call involving a weapon in the 17000 block of Adelmann Street SE in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The male suspect fled the residents on foot with the Prior Lake Police Officers losing sight of him.
He was later spotted by Scott County Sheriff's deputies where a short pursuit ensued before the vehicle crashed into the ditch near the intersection of 175th Street SE and Murphy Lake Blvd just before 4 PM. The suspect once again took off on foot into a wooded area of the Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve behind the crash scene and visual of him was once again lost. A perimeter was then set up around the park with assistance for the perimeter coming from the Savage, Shakopee, and Lakeville police departments, the Scott County Sheriff's Department, and the Minnesota State Patrol. Additionally, the Minnesota State Patrol's helicopter was also called in to aid in searching and locating the suspect through the use of their imaging equipment.
Law enforcement continued to search for the suspect before he was later located by the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter just before 7 PM and SWAT was called in to aid with the arrest of the suspect. The suspect was contacted by officers and later surrendered peacefully by 7:45 PM. The suspect is now in jail at Scott County pending a review and his potential charges.
