13-Year-Old Drowns at Parkridge Way Apartments in New Hope, Minnesota
NEW HOPE, MINNESOTA—A tragic drowning incident claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy on the evening of Wednesday, September 4th, at the Parkridge Way Apartments in New Hope, Minnesota. According to a press release from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Water Patrol deputies and New Hope Police Department officers were dispatched to the apartment complex after receiving reports of a drowning at approximately 7:14 p.m.
New Hope officers were the first to arrive at the scene, where they found the young boy unresponsive. Officers immediately began administering CPR before the victim was transported to North Memorial Hospital. Sadly, despite their efforts, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the child had entered the pool alone, and bystanders found him unresponsive before pulling him out and calling 911. Video footage reviewed by authorities shows that the boy had been underwater for over 30 minutes before emergency services were contacted. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, along with detectives, were on the scene conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. No additional information is currently available as the investigation is ongoing.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time," the HCSO Public Information Officer Megan Larson shared in their statement.
Additional updates will be released as authorities continue to investigate this tragic incident.
