Fire Breaks Out at Meridian Pointe Apartments in Burnsville: Second Incident in Six Months
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - On Monday evening at approximately 7:30 PM, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Meridian Pointe Apartment Homes located in the 100 block of McAndrews Road after a fire was reported on the second floor of the complex. The incident marks the second fire at this location in less than six months, as residents recall a similar event in March in the same building section.
Upon arrival at 101 McAndrews, Burnsville Fire and Police departments confirmed the presence of an active fire on the second floor. The responding crew immediately requested additional resources, escalating the situation to a second alarm. Burnsville Fire received assistance from neighboring departments, including Apple Valley Fire, Eagan Fire, and Savage Fire, while Allina EMS also provided support at the scene. Emergency crews swiftly contained the fire, ensuring it did not spread to other units. One individual was evaluated by medical personnel on-site but was released shortly after without needing hospitalization.
According to city officials, the fire appears to have been caused by unattended cooking, which sparked the flames. As of the latest update, all units except one have been re-occupied.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, but no further disruptions to the complex are expected.
