Vehicle Fire on I-94 in Maplewood: No Injuries Reported
MAPLEWOOD, MINNESOTA – On Thursday, May 23, 2024, emergency personnel were dispatched to a vehicle fire on westbound I-94 near Century Avenue in Maplewood, Minnesota. The incident occurred around 11:30 AM, prompting a swift response from the Maplewood Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
Initial reports indicated that a young child was trapped in the burning vehicle, raising immediate concern among first responders. However, the Minnesota State Patrol later confirmed that both the adult driver and the child were able to exit the vehicle safely without injury. Fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire when they arrived on the scene. The vehicle fire caused significant disruption to traffic, as westbound I-94 was reduced to a single lane. This lane reduction led to considerable delays for motorists in the area.
Although the cause of the vehicle fire was not readily available, the quick response and effective coordination between the Maplewood Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol ensured that the situation was controlled, and again, no injuries were reported.
