Confirmed: Maddi Kingsbury's remains found; ex-partner arrested for suspected Second-degree murder
WINONA, MINNESOTA - During a press conference by the Winona Police Department around 1 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023, the Winona Police Department Police Chief Tom Williams announced and confirmed that the human remains that were found in some bushes off of Highway 43, north of Mabel, Minnesota, was in fact, the remains of Maddi Kingsbury, the mother of two young children, who went missing back on March 31, 2023. Her body was found in what police describe as isolated public land along a gravel road just off Highway 43 north of Mabel, Minnesota. Her body was found by a Fillmore County deputy around 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, as he was going off of a digital tip that law enforcement had received. According to officials, volunteers had previously searched this area, but her body was never found as it was heavily concealed in an area of woods under some bushes. The preliminary cause of death was not available at this time. Maddi had been missing for 65 days.
In connection with the finding of Maddi Kingsbury's remains, the Winona County Sheriff's Office arrested her ex-partner, Adam Fravel, yesterday evening around 5:30 PM. He is being held in the Winona County Jail under the suspicion of second-degree murder with intent, not premeditated. Officials could not comment on any charges or pending charges as the investigation is still ongoing into Maddi's murder. Officials confirmed that they aren't releasing this information to protect the case. The Winona County Police Chief did confirm that Fravel was arrested at a residence in Mabel, Minnesota, without incident.
