Eagan House Fire Caused by Possible Lightning Strike
EAGAN, MINNESOTA—Just after 9:30 PM on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, the Eagan Fire Department and Burnsville Fire Department were called to a possible structure fire in the 3900 block of Turquoise Circle in Eagan, MN. Neighbors and witnesses reported that lightning might have started the fire.
While en route to the fire, an Eagan Fire Chief encountered a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at Lexington Avenue and Yankee Doodle Road. The chief requested that the fire call be upgraded to a second alarm so he could respond to this second serious scene. Eagan Engine 2 was diverted to the medical emergency, and Eagan Police, Minnesota State Patrol, and MHealth were also called. With the upgrade to a second alarm, mutual aid was toned out for the Apple Valley Fire Department, South Metro, and Inver Grove Heights Fire Departments. This was upgraded to a verified fire around 9:37 PM, with the first fire units arriving on the scene of the structure fire at around 9:38 PM and confirming it as a working fire in the roof.
No injuries have been reported due to the fire. While the cause of the fire is believed to be lightning, we don’t have confirmation yet, so the cause is still under investigation. We will provide an update once we know more.
