Fundraiser to Support Local Family's Mother Battling Brain Tumor
LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA—A local Culver's restaurant will host a fundraiser on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to help raise money for a local family and the mother of a team member recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Oligodendroglioma.
According to a post on the Visit Lakeville Minnesota Facebook Group, Diana Kapala, the mother of one of the team members at the Culver's in Lakeville, was at home with her family on February 20th when she had several seizures and became unresponsive. She was rushed to a local hospital, where it was found she had a very large tumor in her brain. Eight days later, she underwent brain surgery to get the tumor removed. Pathology on the tumor showed she has Stage 2 Oligodendroglioma, which, according to the post and flier, is a tumor at the tree root-like neurons called the gliomas. Due to where this tumor was located and its spread, they were unable to remove all of the tumor. She reportedly, after recovery, will need a follow-up in about six weeks and 30 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation.
The local Lakeville Culver's hopes to raise $10,000 to support this family. You can help by stopping by the Lakeville, Minnesota restaurant on April 4th between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., when 15% of every sale will go toward the Kapalas family. If you cannot stop by the store, scan the QR code on the flyer below or go to the following link to help donate to the family's GoFundMe.
