Homemade Bug bomb sets off apartment fire alarms
Around 6:16 PM on Friday, June 24th, the Eagan Fire Department was called out to the Town Centre Apartments for a general fire alarm called in by the security company. Management on the scene quickly found the source of the problem which was located on the second floor of the apartment building. To deal with some bugs in their apartment, a residence tried to kill a bug(s) through the use of charcoal and a charcoal grill. Once the bug(s) were killed, they then through the used charcoal down the shared trash shoot. It seems there were no issues within the trash shoot.
Smoke was initially confined to the 2nd floor of the apartment, but some of the smoke was circulated around the building through the HVAC system. Fire crews worked to then ventilate the second floor of the apartment building and residences were later cleared to return to their apartments.
