High-Speed Pursuit Through Anoka County Ends in Minneapolis With Arrests of Three Juvenile Suspects

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA—A high-speed police pursuit originating in Anoka County, Minnesota, on Tuesday, November 5th, led to the arrest of three juveniles in Minneapolis. According to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), the incident began around 11:07 a.m. when Anoka County deputies identified a vehicle linked to a recent armed robbery (Incident #24-318348) traveling eastbound on Highway 10 near Creek Meadow Drive in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. When officers attempted to initiate a stop near Highway 10 at Egret Boulevard, the vehicle accelerated, reaching speeds between 90 and 100 mph as it fled officers.

The vehicle eventually took Highway 610 and exited onto southbound Highway 252, leaving Anoka County toward Brooklyn Park, which was when Anoka County ended its pursuit. The pursuit was started again when an officer with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department caught up to the vehicle on southbound Highway 252 at 70th Avenue North in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Authorities would take Highway 100 and eventually get off at Brooklyn Park Blvd as it worked into the Minneapolis city limits. MPD officers joined the pursuit when the vehicle reached the area of 44th Avenue and Penn Ave in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to the MPD, the chase concluded near 27th Ave N and Queen Ave N at approximately 11:33 AM, when the suspect vehicle collided with an unoccupied parked car, and three juvenile occupants exited the crashed vehicle and fled on foot. Law enforcement quickly apprehended the individuals nearby by around 11:35 AM. All three juveniles were taken into custody.

Two of the suspects, both 14-year-old boys, were booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on outstanding warrants. A 17-year-old female, identified as the driver, was booked for fleeing in a motor vehicle and possessing a stolen vehicle.
