Scramblin’ Egg Wins Inaugural Hatch Bloomington Business Pitch Competition

BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA – Scramblin’ Egg, a restaurant concept developed by food truck owners Grant Veitenheimer and Nick Peterson, has been named the inaugural winner of the Hatch Bloomington business pitch competition. This victory marks a significant milestone for the duo, who have been serving fast, casual breakfast options from their popular food truck in Bloomington for the past year and a half.

The winning entry was selected through a competitive process involving two rounds of community voting, combined with input from a seven-judge panel. The panel reviewed contestants' pitches at various stages, including the Top 25, Top 10, and Top 3, before ultimately awarding the top prize to Scramblin' Egg.

With the support of the $100,000 Hatch award, Grant and Nick plan to transition their successful food truck into a permanent brick-and-mortar location in Bloomington. Their new restaurant will continue to focus on delivering quick yet high-quality breakfast choices, aiming to better serve their growing customer base. Looking to the future, the duo envisions developing a business model that could expand nationally and eventually globally, with Bloomington as the starting point.

The Hatch Bloomington competition is part of the city’s broader strategy to foster local entrepreneurship and stimulate economic growth. The initiative aligns with Bloomington's strategic objectives by encouraging local entrepreneurs to develop innovative business ideas that contribute to the city’s future development.

The response to Hatch Bloomington has been overwhelmingly positive, with 60 applicants presenting a diverse array of ideas designed to solve real-world challenges and enhance the quality of life in the community. The competition has highlighted the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit thriving within Bloomington, setting the stage for continued growth and innovation in the city.

As Scramblin’ Egg prepares to open its first permanent location, the win serves as a testament to the potential of local entrepreneurs and the city’s commitment to supporting small businesses. This is just the beginning for Grant and Nick, who are eager to bring their vision of fast, high-quality breakfast to an even larger audience.
