Local Eaganite Wins Grandma’s Marathon 2022
Local Eaganite, Dakotah Lindwurm (27 years old), wins the Grandma’s Marathon for the second year in a row with a personal best time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 1 second. Last year she was the first Minnesotan to win the race since 1987 with a personal best of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 4 seconds.
The Duluth News Tribune reports that Lindwurm will hold the Grandma’s Marathon original course record after the race returned to Superior Street for the first time since 2017 because of construction. Kellyn Taylor holds the record for the Michigan Street course, with a time of 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 28 seconds, which was set back in 2018.
Dakotah Lindwurm also ran the Boston Marathon early this year and took 14th place. Her PR today will once again qualify her to be able to run the Boston Marathon once again next year. For her win at Grandma’s Marathon, Lindwurm won $20,000, which News Tribune reports she is going to put part of those winnings towards her student loans from her days running at Northern State.
Congratulations Dakotah on a great win! Eagan proud!
