Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Burnsville Teen

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA – A tragic two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle on the evening of Thursday, October 10, 2024, has claimed the life of a 17-year-old Burnsville resident. The accident occurred at the off-ramp of northbound I-35W and Burnsville Parkway, with emergency personnel from the Burnsville Police Department, Burnsville Fire Department, and Minnesota State Patrol responding to the scene.

An official press release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner confirmed that the motorcyclist has been identified as Peter Vsevolod Genis, a 17-year-old male from Burnsville, Minnesota. The report confirms that Genis died from blunt force craniocerebral injuries sustained in the collision.

According to a GoFundMe set up by the family of Peter Genis, Peter, who was going to turn 18 in November, was riding his motorcycle home from the gym when the fatal crash occurred just a short distance from his home. In their GoFundMe, the family stated that Peter was "genuine and contagious laughter" and was known for his ability to bring joy to those around him. His family described him as one of the most intelligent people they knew, with plans to attend college next year to study Mechanical Engineering. "I know he would’ve been great at it," the family wrote, highlighting Peter’s passion and bright future ahead.

The Burnsville Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, as the exact cause has not yet been determined.

Peter Genis's family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover the unexpected funeral costs. In their emotional plea, Peter's family expressed the immense difficulty of having to think about funeral expenses for a younger brother. “This is an incredibly hard time for my family and I, and an even harder ask for any funds that people feel comfortable donating. Anything you can donate would be beyond appreciated.” If you would like to assist the family, you can find a link to their GoFundMe here: Help Honor Peter Genis' Memory.
