Fatal Crash in Rosemount Claims Two Lives
ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA – According to the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, a tragic head-on collision on County Road 46 near Biscayne Avenue in Rosemount, Minnesota, claimed the lives of two drivers on Monday, October 14th. In a press release from the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, they stated that the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by David Rosas, 15, of Rosemount, attempted to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone.
Eyewitnesses reported that Rosas was traveling eastbound on County Road 46 and, after pulling into the oncoming lane, was faced with a westbound vehicle, a 2014 Lincoln MKX, driven by Dennis Dahlstrom, 81, of Champaign, Illinois. His wife, Sandra Dahlstrom, 78, was a passenger in the Lincoln.
Despite both drivers swerving onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid the crash, the vehicles collided head-on. The impact proved fatal for both drivers, with David Rosas and Dennis Dahlstrom being pronounced dead at the scene. Sandra Dahlstrom sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Her current condition has not been released.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash, several bystanders stopped to offer aid to the victims before emergency personnel arrived. First responders, including the Rosemount Police and Fire Departments, Allina Health, and the Minnesota State Patrol, provided emergency assistance on the scene.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, is leading the investigation into the crash. No further information has been released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities have expressed their deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims affected by this devastating incident.
