Farmington Resident Charged with Assaulting Officer & Girlfriend
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - A Farmington resident was charged with a Felony, Gross Misdemeanor, and two Misdemeanors after he reportedly fought an Officer, threatened his girlfriend's Father, and assaulted his girlfriend.
According to a criminal complaint, Officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle spotted in Lakeville, Minnesota; the complaint doesn't specify the intersection. The caller reported seeing a female waving her hands and screaming, followed by the Suspect, who would later be identified as 36-year-old Christopher Huggett, tackling the lady to the ground.
As police arrived on the scene, Mr. Huggett was getting back into the vehicle, which was when Officers ordered Mr. Huggett out of the vehicle, but he refused. When an Officer told Mr. Huggett that he was not free to leave, Mr. Huggett stated, "Fight me." Officers asked Mr. Huggett to sit on the curb, and as they attempted to get a hold of him, he ripped away from them and threatened to beat them up. Officers then told Mr. Huggett behind his back, and he refused and began to walk toward the vehicle. Officers drew their Taser and deployed it at this point, but it was ineffective.
Mr. Huggett then charged the Officers and punched an Officer twice in the face, causing the Officer to get a cut on their ear. Mr. Huggett said he would again beat the Officer up and shove them. Back-up Officers arrived soon after, and as they tried to detain him, he pushed them and began swinging his arms. He then tried to get back into the vehicle again, which was when Officers finally got Huggett on the ground, restrained him, and eventually handcuffed him. When Paramedics arrived to evaluate Mr. Huggett, he once again became belligerent and combative and threatened to assault both the Police and Paramedics.
According to the female Victim who spoke with an Officer, who was later identified as Mr. Huggett's girlfriend, they were at her parent's house earlier in the evening when he punched a hole in her door and threatened her Father. She told the Officer she did not want to leave her house with Mr. Huggett. The Officer reported seeing cuts on the lady's leg, which she reported occurred when she tried to get out of the car because she feared for her life. The lady additionally had a bloody nose from Mr. Huggett. In a later statement, she stated she was not scared of Mr. Huggett and was not injured by him.
