ER Tech Assaulted at Burnsville Hospital: Woman Charged
BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Officers with the Burnsville Police Department responded to the emergency room at the Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota, for reports that an emergency room staff member was assaulted.
According to a criminal complaint released by the Dakota County Attorney's Office, the incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Monday, February 12, 2024. When officers arrived at the hospital, they informed that an ER tech was responding to a "code 21," meaning assistance was needed to restrain a patient, and the patient in the room kicked the tech three times. The criminal complaint states the tech got to the patient's room, where they found two security guards holding the standing patient by the arms. The ER tech went to grab the patient's leg, which was when the patient kicked the tech in the left thigh, causing the tech to bend over. As she was bent over, the patient kicked her two more times. The second kick was with two legs to the stomach of the ER tech, while the third was to the ER tech's face.
The patient was identified as 47-year-old Kym Jablecki. She was reportedly charged with Felony 4th Degree Assault (Hospital Emergency Personnel), which comes with a 0-2 year sentence and/or a fine of $1,200 to $4,000. Jablecki's bail was set at $15,000 without conditions and $2,500 with conditions. Bail was not posted when writing this article and they remained in the Dakota County Jail. Her next court hearing is set for March 6, 2024, at 9 AM in Hastings, Minnesota.
