23-Year-Old Flees Police in Stolen Dodge Charger
EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA - According to a press release from the Eden Prairie Police Department, they confirmed that their officers were involved in a pursuit of a 23-year-old male suspect in a 2021 Dodge Charger that was stolen from West St Paul, Minnesota.
The pursuit began around 10:45 AM on Sunday, January 7, 2024, with Hennepin County Sheriff's Office officers following the car southbound on Highway 169 near 36th Ave in New Hope, Minnesota. The on-and-off pursuit involved officers from Crystal, Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, New Hope, and Plymouth police departments, with the suspect driving in both Carver and Hennepin Counties.
According to the press release from the Eden Prairie Police Department, their officers picked up the pursuit when the suspect was traveling eastbound on Highway 212. The suspect exited Highway 212 at Prairie Center Drive. As the suspect approached a red light at the end of the offramp with cars stopped, they sideswiped six vehicles and rear-ended another before continuing northbound on Prairie Center Drive toward Valley View Road. They reported the suspect then went eastbound in a parking lot adjacent to the Home Depot parking lot before driving down an embankment and stopping. The suspect was the car's lone occupant, and he was taken into custody with no injuries to report.
The Eden Prairie Police Department reports only minor damage to the vehicles struck at the red light by the fleeing suspect. Only one person was transported to Hennepin EMS for minor injuries due to that crash. The Eden Prairie Fire Department and Minnesota State Patrol assisted with the off-ramp accident scene.
