Fentanyl Found in Unconscious Driver's Car
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA - On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at around 5:11 PM, officers with the Farmington Police Department were called to the drive-through lane of a fast food restaurant in the City of Farmington for the reports of a "slumper." When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 27-year-old male unconscious and tried to wake him. They were unable to wake him. The officer reportedly noticed heavy smoke in the vehicle and became worried that the individual was suffering from carbon dioxide poisoning from a possible exhaust leak. The officer quickly got the individual out of the car, and the man gained consciousness.
As the officer searched the vehicle for a source of the smoke, he found in the back seat of the car in a box was a bottle of methadone. The officer also found several pieces of neatly rolled tinfoil with a cut straw in the cupholder and residue on the center console. The officer knew these items were tied to drug use, though the male denied knowing of or using illegal narcotics.
The officer ran a preliminary test on the four pieces of rolled tinfoil, with all four tested for the presence of fentanyl. A total of 2.01 grams of fentanyl was seized from the four tinfoil rolls.
The suspect was identified as Cobey Kordosky of St Paul, Minnesota. Cobey was charged, according to the criminal complaint, with a felony for possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree, which comes with a sentence of 0 to 5 years and/or a fine of $3,000 to $10,000.
