Crystal Lake Beach Has Reopened!
July 18th Update - 9:30 AM: Burnsville City Officials announced on Wednesday, July 17th, that new test results returned as safe on July 16th, allowing the beach to be reopened.
ORIGINAL STORY - BURNSVILLE, MN - Officials with the City of Burnsville have announced that they have temporarily closed the public swimming beach at Crystal Lake because of high levels of E. coli bacteria. According to officials, they will reopen the beach when testing shows a return to safe levels as determined by state guidelines.
While bacteria occur naturally in the environment, high levels of E. coli bacteria may indicate contamination from decaying matter and animals. Stretches of hot weather can contribute to high E. coli levels. If testing reveals high bacteria levels, beaches are closed as a precaution to prevent possible illness.
